Role and Responsibilities
The essential roles and responsibilities are outlined below:
- Perform installation and commissioning of security systems including camera, card access and intrusion.
- Complete full startup of new systems and complete required checkout and commissioning documentation.
- Guide installation process and ensure standards are met for quality and safety.
- Add devices to existing systems and properly commission the system after any modification.
- Make repairs and programming changes as required to keep systems operational and reliable.
- Interact with customer or general contractor to ensure work is performed as expected.
- Communicate schedule ability, material needs or any job-related issues with Project Management team.
- Complete assigned tasks on time.
- Support emergency service call-out on a rotational basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Five years’ experience in commercial/industrial security systems including IP cameras, card access and intrusion systems.
- Experience or certification with Bosch, Honeywell Ademco, Lenel, Prowatch, Pelco and/or Avigilon.
- Strong IT networking knowledge and experience with Windows server.
- Ability to setup cellular and IP based networking equipment.
- Experience setting up remote monitoring.
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and parts manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Experience with hand tools, multi-meter usage and cable testing equipment.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work on lifts and ladders.
- Must possess hand tools.
Preferred Skills
- ONSSI, Exacqvision or Milestone video management software experience.
- Experience with legacy systems such as GE Picture Perfect, Facility Commander, Northern Computers, Open Options,
- NICET Security certification
- CompTIA Network+ Certification
- Bicsi Certification
Key Requirements
- Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
- Random drug testing required.
- Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Technician must be able to obtain and regularly re-certify with the state alarm board for their security license. This includes any applicable paperwork and background investigations.
