Role and Responsibilities
- Testing the operability of fire & smoke dampers per NFPA code.
- Making non-accessible dampers accessible.
- Inspection of firewalls per NFPA code.
- Providing accurate documentation for customer code compliance.
- Maintain professional, timely, communication with customers.
- Attend Job Training Activities as needed.
- Follow and maintain a highly structured schedule.
- Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documentation program via the laptop computer.
- Maintain customer satisfaction for continual company growth.
- Complete assigned tasks on time with little supervision.
- Support emergency service call-outs on a rotational basis.
- Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Two years of experience in commercial/industrial damper systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word documents as they relate to inspection reporting.
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Good record keeping and tracking of facilities inspections required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and parts manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage and must be able to provide own tools
- Experience climbing ladders, scaffolds and high-lift equipment (max load of 250 lbs.)
- Work in ducts, crawl spaces and above ceilings that all have limited space
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be willing to travel within NC/SC for day trips and work extended hours as needed.
- Perform quality work within deadlines with/without direct supervision.
- Ability to have a Professional appearance.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Communicate and coordinate with team, customers, & supervisor.
- Customer service and experience working with the public needed.
- Mechanical, HVAC, electrical repair and installation preferred, but not required.
- Carpentry, drywall, and insulation knowledge a plus.
- Firestopping methodology experience helpful, not required.
- Ability to abide by basic safe work practices.
- Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC)
- Material Handling: Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- Must successfully pass a background check & drug test.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
Work Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
