Field Ops Manager - Mechanical

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct-reporting oversite of all Sheet Metal and Piping Personnel for MSS and surrounding areas.
  • Direct QA/QC Policy and perform walks for sheet metal and piping installations for MSS and surrounding areas.
  • Work closely with other General Superintendents and Project Managers to organize and schedule resources to meet project specific needs for MSS and surrounding areas.
  • Promote a safe and collaborative work environment within MSS Mechanical Construction.
  • Coordinate with the Division VP as it relates to Tool, BIM, and Manpower needs (short and long term).
  • Make Personnel decisions regarding the project specific field leaders
  • Advise the Division VP on lessons learned and best practices within MSS Mechanical Construction to revise and implement processes and procedures.
  • Champion new processes and policies to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and employee satisfaction.
  • Solve complex job-related problems and provide solutions / direction to the jobsite Superintendent, Project Manager, Customer, and/or Division VP.
  • Liaison with client representatives.
  • Attend all project turnover meetings and assist Project Manager in creating a manpower loading chart and risk assessment of each project.
  • Integrate a safety focused culture. Perform safety talks and training to all Mechanical Construction Personnel as required. Perform jobsite safety walks and assessments as required.
  • Maintain, enforce, and provide feedback on the MSS tool tracking program.
  • Manage the oversight of the approval of field employees’ (permanent and temporary) weekly time.
  • Manage the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, development, training, mentoring, and terminating of Mechanical field employees. Ensures required documentation/paperwork is completed and turned in promptly.
  • Manage the performance reviews for Mechanical Field Employees.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Mechanical Construction or Industrial/Large Commercial General Contracting.
  • Proven leadership record.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to take initiative and achieve results.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Material Handling: Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check & drug test.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Work Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
