Superintendent - Plumbing

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the actual physical construction of plumbing systems is done according to contract documents, local & national building codes, and project-specific compliance requirements.
  • Work with the Project Manager to document and maintain reports for delays, work-arounds, shutdowns, tie-ins, etc.
  • Resolve disputes on job sites and lead and inspire the team.
  • Maintain satisfactory relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and others while working in a team environment with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field labor.
  • Ensure all MSS-related plumbing scope is in compliance with applicable state/federal codes, quality standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage and attend all plumbing inspections on assigned projects.
  • Manage and enforce MSS’s tool tracking program as it applies to plumbing projects and personnel.
  • Forecast and manage differing levels of labor and equipment for plumbing projects.
  • Read complex plumbing blueprints and equipment installation manuals to ensure proper implementation.
  • Address complex job-related problems and bring solutions to the Project Team or Field Ops Manager.
  • Track plumbing project progress and report to the Field Ops Manager and Project Managers weekly.
  • Complete daily Job Hazard Analysis, supervise daily sign-in of all personnel, and verify correct time cost allocation for all labor on projects
  • Manage safety on assigned projects, assisting the safety manager in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate and communicate daily plumbing job operations with project managers and manage the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and labor.
  • Interview and select field staff for plumbing-related jobsites.
  • Participate in all project meetings to ensure smooth operations.
  • Conduct safety talks and maintain check-in sheets.
  • Conduct performance reviews for employees on the plumbing project.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in the plumbing field, specifically with large-scale mechanical or plumbing projects.
  • Subject matter expert and knowledge of all plumbing state/local/federal construction codes and standards
  • OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain withing 90 days
  • Experience and proficiency in all phases of plumbing work, including methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of plumbing tools and equipment.
  • Experience in accessing, reading, and completing the installation of plumbing systems from a BIM-coordinated project.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical and communication skills are critical.
  • Must be competent in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Thorough understanding of maintaining complete sets of plumbing project documents, blueprints, revisions, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing plumbing site logistics on tight urban sites.

Work Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
