Field Ops Supervisor - HVAC

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Service Manager with oversight of all HVAC field personnel for MSS in your assigned region/office.
  • Support the coordination team for your assigned region/office HVAC service.
  • Support in the interviewing of new technical field staff along with the Service Manager.
  • Lead and guide all HVAC Service field staff in your assigned region/office, working closely with the Service Manager
  • Lead QA/QC for field performance and customer satisfaction of MSS service work.
  • Work closely with the HVAC Service Manager and Dispatch team to organize and schedule resources to meet service work requirements surrounding both PM visits and service call/repair needs.
  • Promote a safe and collaborative work environment within your assigned region/office HVAC service team and support other divisions as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Service Manager and dispatch team regarding Manpower needs (short and long-term) and skill set development.
  • Support the training needs for HVAC service in your assigned region/office.
  • Work with Service Manager and division leadership to monitor, revise, and implement processes and procedures.
  • Assist with supporting new processes and policies to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and employee satisfaction.
  • Solve, coach, and train field staff through complex service-related problems. This may be day-to-day in the field or bringing members into the office. Working with management to focus on immediate needs and discuss long-term.
  • Liaison and point of escalation for customers.
  • Partner with sales staff to provide technical support for new opportunities.
  • Promote a safety-focused culture. Perform safety talks and training for HVAC service in your assigned region/office. Perform job site safety walks and assessments as required.
  • Maintain, enforce, and provide feedback on the MSS tool tracking program. Tool inventory, Hilti assist, etc.
  • Ensure required time entry, documentation/paperwork is completed and turned in daily.
  • Work with the Service Manager on performance reviews for your assigned region/office HVAC service field employees.
  • This position will report directly to the Service Manager and will be an extension of the Service Manager when unavailable.
  • They will work together with all field staff: have a plan to spend time with the staff equally, and still support their customers and chiller needs.
  • They will support Sales as needed, lead & guide the technicians technically, and consistently strive to push the team forward in growth.
  • This position will be 75% billable and 25% unbillable but can be flexible if needed.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HVAC service (commercial, healthcare, industrial).
  • Proven leadership record.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to take initiative and achieve results.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Material Handling: May frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and lift up to 25 lbs., placing this position in a heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check & drug test.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Work Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
